Nichole volunteered in a community hospital and children’s clinic in Cusco, Peru as part of a language study program with AmeriSpan. While working as a nurse’s assistant, Nichole experienced a high-pressure cross-cultural work environment, and was able to greatly enhance her Spanish language skills by using them in a professional context.

While working as a professional massage therapist in the US, Uma has taken a number of short-term insight volunteer trips to, among other places, Guatemala and Peru.
